"An Extended Look": 26 minutes of PS5 gameplay premiered on Netflix, everything it showed
Rockstar skipped a conventional Trailer 3 and partnered with Netflix for a gameplay deep-dive: mid-mission protagonist switching, a trap-house bust, and a living Vice City.
On August 27, 2026 at 3pm ET, Rockstar premiered "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" exclusively on Netflix, holding it there for six hours before posting it to the Rockstar Games YouTube channel. Rockstar described the arrangement as a first-of-its-kind partnership. Many outlets are calling it "Trailer 3", but it is not a cinematic trailer: it is roughly 26 minutes of captured PlayStation 5 gameplay with narration.
The headline systems shown: switching between Jason and Lucia in the middle of a mission, a sequence that moves from a trap house to a full drug bust, on-foot and vehicle traversal through dense Vice City streets, and open-world moments with crowds that react and route around the player.
Press analysis of the footage points to heavier, more grounded vehicle handling than GTA V, a weapon wheel and inventory that borrows from Red Dead Redemption 2, and NPC routines that look far more simulated than scripted. Treat those as reported observations rather than a Rockstar spec sheet.
StreamsCharts counted close to four million concurrent viewers on third-party reaction streams during the premiere, on top of Netflix's own audience; Netflix later reported 31.1 million views in the first four days. If you only watch one piece of pre-release media, make it this one: it is the closest thing to hands-on the public will get before November 19.
