Twelve things worth doing before launch. After November 19 this page turns into money, wanted-level and traversal tricks from the game itself.
Pre-load the moment it opens
Fan sites report pre-loading around November 12. Rockstar has not confirmed it, but every recent Rockstar launch allowed about a week. Clear space early: budget 150 GB or more on the console SSD, since the exact install size is unannounced.
Put it on the internal SSD, not USB
PS5 and Series X|S games must run from the internal drive or an expansion card. A USB HDD can only store the install. If you are at capacity, a PS5 M.2 or a Series X expansion card is the prep buy that matters most.
Set your console region and time zone now
Digital unlocks usually roll by region at local midnight. Check your account region so you are not the person waiting an extra six hours because of a store mismatch.
Ultimate is only worth it if you want the garage
The $20 gap buys six vehicles, four weapon variants, cosmetics, six shops, a garage and one side mission. If you play GTA for story rather than collection, Standard plus the free Vintage Vice City Pack is the smarter spend.
Replay Vice City Stories for the geography
Vice City and the Keys are returning locations. The Definitive Edition of Vice City gives the layout and the V-Rock station a refresher before Leonida expands the state around it.
Watch the Extended Look on the largest screen you have
It is 26 minutes of PS5 capture. Look for the weapon wheel, the character-switch transition and how crowds route around you. Those are the systems that will define your first ten hours.
Do not expect GTA Online 2 at launch
GTA VI launches as a single-player game. Rockstar has not named, dated or described a multiplayer mode. Anyone selling you a launch-day online guide is guessing.
Ignore any pre-order 'discount' key sites
Rockstar sells GTA VI digitally through PlayStation Store and Xbox Store only. Grey-market keys for a console-only game are a scam vector. Use retailer physical copies or the first-party stores.
Mute the leak hashtags
Since the CyberLeek clips started in August, spoilers are everywhere. Mute the obvious keywords on your social apps if you want the trap-house mission to land fresh in November.
Check your HDMI 2.1 chain
If you have a 120 Hz VRR display, make sure the console output and the cable both support it. Rockstar has not published performance modes, but VRR smooths whatever the frame target turns out to be.
Learn the cast before day one
Twelve named characters are already public. Knowing who Boobie Ike, Raul Bautista and Petra Navarro are makes the first act's cold introductions land harder.
Cheats disable trophies in Story Mode
That is the GTA V rule, and every mainline GTA has shipped with cheats. If GTA VI follows suit, save before activating anything so a joyride in a spawned helicopter does not lock a platinum run.
