The Extended Look pulled 31.1M Netflix views in four days and topped 87 of 93 countries
Netflix's first video-game gameplay premiere was its most-watched title of the week. Cloudflare saw YouTube traffic jump 39% and Twitch buckle under reaction streams.
"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" was watched 31.1 million times on Netflix between August 27 and August 30, according to Netflix's weekly figures as reported by Variety, and ranked number one in 87 of the 93 countries Netflix tracks. It was comfortably the platform's most-watched title of the week, and the first time a video-game gameplay reveal has led Netflix's charts.
The premiere strained everything around it. Cloudflare reported traffic up 16% on Netflix, 12% on Twitch and 39% on YouTube during the window, and Downdetector logged more than 17,000 outage reports as Twitch struggled with reaction streams. StreamsCharts counted close to four million concurrent viewers on third-party reaction streams alone, with about 1.8 million on Twitch.
For context, that is a bigger single-event audience than most game launches, eleven weeks before the game exists. Take-Two's next public data point is the November 11 earnings call.
