What the estimate includes
The formula is download GB × 8,000 ÷ Mbps ÷ (usable speed / 100), giving seconds. Internet plans use megabits per second; a download display using MB/s is megabytes per second. Multiply MB/s by eight before entering it here. Decimal GB is used throughout; a GiB value must be multiplied by approximately 1.074 first.
Your console may download more slowly than your internet plan because of Wi-Fi, other devices, server demand or a fluctuating connection. Use a sustained speed observed on the console where possible. Free storage requirements, installation and verification time are separate from transfer size and are not calculated here.
Before launch and after an update
Check the console library for download availability and use the current store or publisher notice for release timing. A finished pre-load does not mean the game is playable. Leave additional time for installation and any update that appears when you launch the game.
For a patch, enter the patch download size rather than the whole installed game size. If the console already shows a remaining size, use that figure; do not add files that have already finished downloading.
