2022 GTA 6 hacker moved from hospital to prison ahead of a November retrial
Arion Kurtaj, the Lapsus$ member behind the 2022 leak, was transferred to prison on July 17. His retrial is scheduled for the same month GTA VI launches.
Arion Kurtaj, the UK teenager identified as the Lapsus$ member who posted more than 90 early development videos of Grand Theft Auto VI to GTAForums in September 2022, was moved from a secure hospital to prison on July 17, 2026, per reporting by gHacks. A retrial is scheduled for November 2026.
In December 2023 a UK court found Kurtaj responsible for the Rockstar breach and earlier attacks on Nvidia, Uber and others. Because of findings that he was unfit to plead, he received an indefinite hospital order rather than a conventional sentence, with assessors noting he had said he intended to return to cybercrime as soon as possible.
Rockstar said at the time that the leak would not affect development. Four years on, the retrial and the launch land in the same month. We will cover the outcome, and only the outcome: no leaked material is hosted or linked here.
