Everything the Netflix Extended Look revealed, system by system
The 26-minute PS5 gameplay deep-dive broken down: protagonist switching, the trap-house mission, driving, combat, crowds and radio.
On August 27, 2026 Rockstar and Netflix premiered "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look", around 26 minutes of PS5 gameplay that stayed exclusive to Netflix for six hours before landing on YouTube. This is what it showed, with a note on which observations are Rockstar's and which are press interpretation.
Protagonist switching
Confirmed: you switch between Jason and Lucia, including mid-mission. The transition is a fast camera pull rather than GTA V's satellite zoom, and it appears to be usable at a moment's notice during the trap-house sequence.
The trap-house mission
The centrepiece sequence starts in a trap house and escalates into a drug bust, moving from interior stealth to an exterior firefight and a vehicle escape. It is the clearest look yet at mission pacing and at how the two leads split tasks.
Driving
Reported by press analysis: vehicle handling looks heavier and more grounded than GTA V, with body roll and weight transfer that reads closer to RDR2's horses than to GTA V's arcade feel. Flipped vehicles do not appear to self-right. Rockstar has not published a handling spec.
Combat and inventory
Reported: a weapon wheel and inventory system that borrows from Red Dead Redemption 2, with a visible carry limit. Cover, blind fire and the wanted system all appear, though the footage does not show a five-star chase.
The world
Crowds route around the player and react to what you do. NPCs appear to have daily routines rather than spawn-and-forget behaviour. Beaches are dense. Third-party trackers estimate the map at around 1.7 times GTA V's and count over 700 enterable interiors from the footage; both are estimates, not Rockstar numbers.
What it did not show
No multiplayer, no online mode, no cheat codes, no photo mode, no PC. GTA VI is being marketed as a single-player experience and Rockstar has said it will not discuss an online component for now.
